SELF-CARE
Being physically active and modifying your diet not only helps to maintain your weight but it also aids in self-care.
With the ease of being mobile these days (due to the use of cars, escalators, etc.) our society is less physically active during daily routines. This makes it more difficult to keep the required energy balance which in turn can potentially lead to obesity related diseases at some point in life. Therefore, maintaining a balance of exercise and a structured diet is extremely important in staying healthy and fit. You should exercise continuously for at least 20-30 minutes at a minimum of 3 times a week.
Anytime is a good time to exercise but the best time is in the morning. After a well rested night your metabolism will get going quickly (resulting in burning more calories), muscles will contract throughout the entire day, and overall you’ll feel the difference in having more energy.
In order to effectively lose weight you should exercise up to 60 minutes 4-5 times a week. Start with a comfortable time period and work your way up to these anticipated levels. There is nothing wrong with shorter exercise periods and increased intervals, it simply depends on your weight and fitness level. Set a goal and try to achieve it as the objective is become more active toward improving your fitness.
Most people will plateau after 4-6 weeks of a routine. Results will slow down and weight loss comes to a halt. However, this is normal as your body is preparing for the next phase. If no change occurs during this tie consider changing the intensity of your workout to stimulate the results. Consistency, discipline, and a positive attitude will keep you going.
