Losing weight successfully starts with changing unhealthy eating habits. Simply following a few nutritional tips such as making a small request when dining out, eating a variety of foods high in antioxidants and fiber, and preparing homemade meals in a healthier manner will make a substantial difference.
Dining Out – Maintaining a diet doesn’t restrict you to eating at home. Following a weight loss program is easy when you know what healthy foods to eat. Try ordering two low calorie side dishes or appetizers instead of one main meal. If a main dish catches your eye order meats that are grilled, steamed, poached or baked. Ordering salsa instead of creamy sauces will also save a significant amount of calories.
High Fiber Foods – Whole grains (whole wheat, quinoa, barley, oats, wheat germ, and brown rice), legumes (a variety of beans and lentils), fresh fruits and vegetables (especially dark green vegetables), walnuts and flax seeds are all considered fiber rich foods.
Homemade Meals – Steaming food provides the least amount of calories and probably the quickest way to prepare a meal. However, grilling and poaching are healthy methods, as well. Remember to avoid using creamy sauces, butter, and cheese when serving.
